    In Colombia, the General System of Social Security in Health (SGSSS) was created by Law 100 of 1993 and through Decree 1011 of 2006, the Compulsory Quality Assurance System (SOGC) of Health Care was established, establishing responsibilities for each One of the actors in the system, as well as this country makes its own reforms to health laws, the other countries do the same, so this monograph wants to identify which factors cause an impact on the health system in Latin America. To compare the main health systems in Latin America by using a DOFA matrix to propose strategies that improve the health system in Colombia. It is a descriptive cross-sectional study, brainstorming was carried out to choose the topic of interest, bibliographic review was developed in the different databases, in total 18 scientific articles are chosen (Scielo, Google Scholar, Pubmed), it carried out DOFA analysis with each of the selected countries. Direct the health system and social protection in health, through policies of promotion, health prevention, as well as the treatment and rehabilitation of disease and insurance; also the intersectoral coordination for the development of policies on the determinants in health, in order to contribute to the improvement of the health of the inhabitants of Colombia. Improvements in health systems that generate equity in the provision of services which are visible and provide satisfaction for all those who use it should be implemented
