    The purpose of this paper is to determine the coping and adaptation of people who have been diagnosed with HIV / AIDS in 2016 at the HOASIS foundation, through the application of the scale of measurement of the coping process and adaptation of Callista Roy, which allows the description of the coping status of the proposed population, becomes important for the University of Santander since it promotes research in the health sector, thus understanding the faculties that are formed there, in the study of one of the problems that Currently, it has a high rate of both prevalence and mortality, such as HIV / AIDS, which in turn can serve as a reference point for the scientific community of Cúcuta in the face of this issue, 12 which has few jobs that focus on health beyond physical, exploring the personal components of patients, promoting the human sense of health personnel and the prayer of other related topics. Likewise, the present study contributes to the University of Santander, a vision of the user or patient as an integral person, where it is important that the nursing staff understand the factors that surround the individual being the psychological component one of the most important and which is strongly related to physical health as well as the behavioral aspect of people, providing inherent knowledge of human health such as mental health and in relation to the problem highlight that the nursing staff not only provides assistance to the disease but also to the person, therefore it is important to know the emotional characteristics that the disease brings and how it influences both the medical aspects and the patient's personal life.
