In Colombia, various risk factors affect its prevalence, with a notable impact on the nutritional status of the population. These factors not only cover nutritional aspects, but are also influenced by social determinants, eating habits, the socioeconomic context and the family environment. Despite the interrelation between these factors, an exhaustive description of parental feeding practices in children under 5 years of age with anemia, as well as the perception of their mothers' support network, had not yet been made. The findings provided information for the design of public health interventions and policies that address the causes and consequences of anemia; contributing to improving the quality of life of the children's population. It is a descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional study; of mothers with children aged 6 to 59 months with anemia, questionnaires on sociodemographic characteristics, Parenting Practices to Promote Health Habits (PCHS) and MOS Social Support were applied. 770 medical records were reviewed; finding 26 mothers with children diagnosed with anemia, of which 19 were part of the study. Sociodemographic characteristics and the four feeding practices were described, with responsive ones being more frequent. Moderate, normocytic, heterogeneous anemia predominated; and the mothers had considerable social support.
