This project focused on the characterization of electronic circuit simulation software, where their suitability in the educational context was determined, in order to achieve a classification of the softwares selected in the study according to their characteristics and the adequacy of the curriculum of the faculty of engineering. This work was addressed through the research question: how can electronic circuit simulation software be characterized? And how to make a description and disclosure of these in the engineering faculty of the Pascual Bravo University Institution in the city of Medellin and the academic community in general? In response to these questions, we worked from a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope, which took as its target population the educational community located in the city of Medellín, specifically the teachers and students of said faculty, with a varied sample of 33 students and 11 teachers, where after identifying, evaluating and investigating in depth different simulation tools, the instrument developed by the teacher Johanna Beatriz Ayala Moreno from the University of Santander was applied to perform a functional analysis on each circuit simulator and thus determine their suitability in the educational context. The findings found through the research process allowed creating a web repository for the dissemination of these study results to the academic community and the scientific community in general
