Resumen en ingles
The broiler growth rate is significantly influenced by intestinal development. The present study evaluated the relationship between breeder age and the allometric and morphometric characteristics of the intestine of 48-day-old chicks of the Ross 308 line; from breeders in different age ranges. The study was carried out with four groups each with (n = 12), being (𝐺1: 26 to 30 weeks, 𝐺2 :31 to 40 weeks, 𝐺3: 41 to 50 weeks and 𝐺4: 51 to 60 weeks). In the evaluation of each range, the chick and intestine were weighed, length of whole intestine was measured and samples of 1𝑐𝑚2 of duodenal loop were taken, to assemble the histological plates and evaluate: height of the villi, width of the villi and depth of the crypts. We used a completely randomized design and the ANOVA statistical method to establish if there is a significant difference between the ranges (<0.05); the variables that yielded significant difference were subjected to the TUKEY test. It was possible to establish a significant difference in the data of the following variables: weight of the chick, weight of the intestine, height of villi and depth of crypts. It is concluded that the age of the breeders has an influence on allometry and duodenal morphometry of day-old chicks.
