The feline coronavirus (FCoV) is an infectious agent of worldwide distribution, it is transmitted by fecal-oral contamination, it is found subclinically in the intestinal tract of infected cats, it affects cats the most between 6 months and 2 years and the over 10 years of age; there is a higher incidence in certain genetic lines and their crosses as Sacred Burma, Siamese, Persian, Bengali, Norwegian Forest, Scottish fold, Maine Coon, Ragdoll and British Shorthairs. Through a descriptive cross-sectional study, the FCoV seroprevalence was calculated in felines from two shelters in the city of Bucaramanga, through an ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) semi-quantitative ImmunoComb® test, which is a Modified ELISA (Dot ELISA) performed on blood sera of 46 felines. Through the online program Working in Epidemiology®, available at http://www.winepi.net, the apparent prevalence in the population was calculated, being 83.67%, with a confidence interval [CI] between 69.86 and 96.39% . According to the evaluation of variables it was evidenced that 95% of the males and 74% of the females were positive for FCoV with a statistical difference of P = 0.04, 86% of the age group between 1 and 3 years were positive to FCoV, compared with 71% of the group over 3 years old and 57% (p = 0.05), 83% of the group of mestizos were positive to FCoV, this in contrast to the individuals of the race group, which 100% were equally positive, for the variable reproductive status, it was found that 83% of sterilized individuals were positive, compared to 88% of the whole animals. The study allowed to establish a seroprevalence of 90.62% to feline coronavirus (FCoV) for the entire population of cats from two shelters in the city of Bucaramanga.
