Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), las enfermedades crónicas representan el mayor desafío de los sistemas sanitarios modernos. La atención integral de estos pacientes se presenta como uno de los mayores retos del milenio. Son enfermedades incapacitantes que en la mayoría de las ocasiones necesitan un cuidador; siendo el familiar en primera opción. En ocasiones tanto el paciente como cuidador no poseen la suficiente competencia para cuidar en el hogar. Objetivo: Evaluar la competencia POST- INTERVENCIÓN para el cuidado en el hogar del paciente-cuidador familiar en situación de cronicidad en una institución de salud en Bucaramanga y área metropolitana Metodología: estudio de abordaje cuantitativo, corte transversal, con una muestra de 62 pacientes y cuidador-familiar con patología crónica en una institución de segundo nivel de Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana, se aplicaron los instrumentos de “caracterización de la diada paciente-cuidador”, “Instrumento competencia para el cuidado- cuidador versión larga” y “Instrumento competencia para el cuidado- paciente versión larga” Resultados: Al analizar la competencia post-intervención para cuidar en el hogar se encuentra que tanto cuidadores como pacientes mejoraron la competencia para cuidar en el hogar, aumentando Discusión: Datos similares a éste estudio se presentan en la investigación “Competencia para cuidar en el hogar de personas con enfermedad crónica y sus cuidadores en Colombia; en los aspectos y las características sociodemográficas como en la competencia pot-intervención para cuidar en el hogar, Conclusiones: Existen diferencias entre el rol de cuidador-receptor de cuidado, y se ha encontrado que las intervenciones en díada dan mejores resultados en que a nivel individual. Con este panorama se puede concluir que así como hay efectos negativos, hay posibilidades de intervenciones en díada para fortalecerla como cuidadora y enriquecer esta área del conocimiento.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), chronic diseases represent the biggest challenge of modern healthcare systems. The comprehensive care of these patients is presented as one of the greatest challenges of the millennium. They are disabling diseases that in most cases need a caregiver; being the family member in first option. Sometimes both the patient and caregiver do not have enough competence to care at home Objective: To evaluate the POST-INTERVENTION competence for the home care of the patient-family caregiver in a situation of chronicity in a health institution in Bucaramanga and the metropolitan área Methodology: study of quantitative approach, cross section, with a sample of 62 patients and caregiver-family with chronic pathology in a second level institution of Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area, the instruments of "characterization of the patient-caretaker dyad" were applied.
