It is an alteration of the rhythm of the heart (also called arrhythmia). It is the most frequent arrhythmia in our country and in the rest of the world. A healthy heart, under normal conditions, should have a regular heart rate, because the natural thing is that it accelerates only when we exercise, and that it goes slower when we sleep. This loss of synchronicity in the rhythm can 10 cause the formation of blood clots inside the heart, since when the heart goes into fibrillation the emptying of blood from the atria may not be total. CONCLUSIONS: The Framingham study warned that the prevalence of AF in America was 0.4-1% in the general population, and increases progressively (8%) in> 80 years. In Colombia while 8.6% is prevalent in> 65 years. In the region it was unknown, now with these results the prevalence is 41% in> of 57 years. METHODOLOGY: The present study will be carried out by means of the Observational, Descriptive, Retrospective, Transversal, and Analytical methodology in order to achieve the objectives currently recorded.
