Anticipating the behavior of prices is an important factor when investing, there are numerous models developed with a view to facilitating said forecasts, however, from the classical theories, this predictive capacity cannot be justified, attributing to the market an efficient behavior (Fama , 1970), where it is stated that prices have all the information incorporated and therefore a variation in these is due exclusively to chance. On the other hand, Murphy (2000) considers opportunities in the market, stating that markets are not efficient and move by trends and, by identifying these trends, investment strategies can be developed that could eventually leverage higher returns, among the found technical analysis. In this sense, it is possible to clearly identify two streams; the first that is shown against the prediction of prices and a second that indicates the possibility of anticipating them. In this study, the technical analysis for the Colombian market is put to the test by applying 6 rules to 11 COLCAP actions, the investigation is carried out in three phases that are: First, the technical analysis rules were used individually from The theoretical proposal that each one proposes in its development, a second moment proposes the application of these rules through the use of strategies that allow combining the use of them, these strategies are evaluated in the study period and after it; The results before and after the strategy show that by applying technical analysis it is not possible to obtain a better result than that achieved by the passive strategy, supporting the hypothesis of weak efficiency in the Colombian stock market.
