Resumen en ingles
Hospital stay The satisfaction related to nursing care received by patients at a Health Services Provider Institution in Bucaramanga, Colombia, is evaluated in a pilot study and aims to establish whether their level of perception is related to the duration of the hospital stay. Objective: To establish the association between the hospital stay and the perception of satisfaction with nursing care in a pilot study with 200 hospitalized patients from a Health Services Provider Institution of Bucaramanga in 2014. Methodology: Study of a quantitative, cross-sectional, analytical approach. A pilot study was conducted with a sample of 200 patients hospitalized at Los Comuneros Hospital Universitario in Bucaramanga, Colombia. The information was collected through the CUCACE (Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire) instrument in the NSNS (The Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scales) dimension of satisfaction with care. Results: The perception of satisfaction with nursing care was positive for 85.5% of the patients, an overall score of 86.8. Nursing care aspects were identified with higher and lower scores. The results of the association measure RP of 0.9, CI (0.8 to 1.0) and p value of 0.09, show that there is no association between length of hospital stay and level of satisfaction with the nursing care perceived by the patients in the pilot sample. Discussion: There was no association between the length of hospital stay and the level of satisfaction with nursing care. The pilot study provided useful information for the planning and management of nursing care. According to the observed trend, it is suggested to carry out satisfaction measurement surveys on the day of discharge from the patient. However, these results are considered preliminary and inconclusive due to the size of the sample. It is recommended for further studies; continue to inquire about the association with other sociodemographic variables.
