In Colombia the teaching of the English foreign language has different and great difficulties that are framed within the learning process of the students of elementary and secondary school. The verb TO BE (Ser or no ser in Spanish) is one of the most important and most used verbs; therefore with greater difficulty for its learning and appropriation due to the amount of conjugations and meanings that are applied to the Spanish language. To counteract this problem, a teaching strategy was created which, through the implementation of virtual activities based on the development of computer thinking through the virtual program Exelearning, allowed students to develop, appropriate and strengthen communication skills based on the phases of computational thinking: decomposition, patterns, algorithms and abstraction. After the initiation diagnosis, the problem in the English subject was evidenced, with students of the Domingo Savio High School of the municipality of Pitalito-Huila; in this way the strategy was created oriented towards a clear goal that consists in "strengthening the learning process of the verb TO BE in present time Simple based on processes of the computational thinking for students of the Sixth grade", looking for that it encourages, in the students, the use of the second language in a daily and experiential way; allowing to be verified through the application of knowledge tests and surveys. The research project manages a mixed approach, which allowed to obtain optimistic results regarding the learning process, since students showed great interest and satisfaction at the time of carrying out the activities proposed in Exelearning. It is pertinent to continue with its implementation, in addition, to strengthen, update, and give feedback depending on the needs that arise in the educational processes; because it is relevant to implement new, updated, and better strategies that develop communication skills at all educational levels of Elementary, Secondary, and Middle School, based on computational thinking
