    The cardiovascular risk factors are a biological trait or habit of life increases the likelihood of developing or dying from cardiovascular disease, the goal of this research is to determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors according to the scale INTERHEART in the elderly 55 years of Girardot neighborhood of the City of Bucaramanga Santander. Adults over 55 years without cognitive and neurological disorder: a study of quantitative and descriptive cross-sectional where 100 seniors who met the following inclusion criteria were evaluated arises as Methodology. Results: The sample consisted of 40 women and 60 men, it was identified that the higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors were psychosocial factors such as the stress where most of the population has felt at work or at home in various periods with 71%, another of the risk factors most relevant was the waist hip ratio which is 83% of the population is in a range between 0873-1 presenting a risk factor for obesity. Conclusions: We identified 100% of the surveyed population have cardiovascular risk factors, it concluded that the factors most prevalent risk as the female gender are psychosocial factors such as stress and sadness and the male was found that dietary factors such as high consumption of balances, fried foods and meat and / or chicken 2 times per day is associated with high rates of waist hip; thus demonstrating the high rate of predisposition to cardiovascular disease.
