    Delirium or acute confusional state, is a syndrome characterized by acute alteration of attention and cognition; Which interferes with healing, recovery and leads to increased morbidity, mortality, and prolonged hospital stay in patients in the Intensive Care Unit (Wesley & Shintani, 2009); Which is why delirium has become a topic of great interest and study in the field of health The research was developed in 157 UCI patients of the Comuneros University Hospital; the study investigates the effectiveness of nursing activities for the Delirium prevention, according to the model proposed by Betty Newman. METHODOLOGY: A quasi-experimental study was developed, in which patients were selected, who were followed daily and weregiven the program for the Deliriumprevention, base don spatial, temporal orientation activitiesand cognitive stimuli. RESULTS: Of the 157 intervened patients, 31,21% han more tan 50 points on the Pre-Deliric scale, and of the total population only 0,64% presented Delirium. CONCLUSIONS: By the low incidence of the Delirium, it can be said that interventions in the prevention of Delirium were effective.
