    Introduction: This article describes the management of pain during labor in pregnant women attending the preparation for motherhood and responsible parenthood in the health center Girardot. Material and Methods: A case series of transverse, are working a convenience sample consisting of nine native who attended the course of preparation for motherhood and responsible parenthood and a control group of nine mothers who did not attend this course, is I use a card that allowed measuring demographic characteristics of maternal and categorical scale survey of pain of Hiskisson (1974). Results: The application of the categorical scale of pain, the case group subjectively described pain intensity as follows; little: the first stage, the 55.5% in the second stage and 77.7% in the third stage the 88.8%; enough in the first stage, the 44.45%, 22.22% in the second stage and 11.11% in the third stage. In the control group of pregnant women described their pain subjectively on the intensity of many in the first stage, the 77.78% in the second stage, the 55.55% and 33.33% in the third phase; enough pain intensity 11.11% in the first stage, 44.45% in the second stage and 55.56% in the third stage and finally 11.11% reported pain as subjectively little on the first and third stages do not describe this feature in the second stage. Discussion and Conclusions: In the case described subjectively little pain intensity in the first stage of dilation and effacement. In the control group of women reported subjectively a lot of pain intensity in the first and second stage.
