Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as a bacterium of great clinical importance. It is related to high mortality rates and has a high capacity to spread in the hospital environment. The present investigation was carried out to know the Prevalence of Acinetobacter baumannii in clinical samples in two medical centers of Valledupar in the period 2017 - 2018. Which is a retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study, where the population is constituted by a base of data corresponding to 23,676. A. baumannii was isolated from patients who were in the intensive care and hospitalization unit where 55 patients belonged to clinic A and 62 to clinic B. of which in clinic A in the ICU service and hospitalization during The two periods 2017-2018 were most frequently isolated in urine and blood samples unlike clinic B where there was a greater isolation in the 2018 period tracheal aspirate samples with 31.57%. In addition to this, a susceptibility to A.baumannii was evident in which a sensitivity to β-lactam, aminoglycosides, quinolones for clinic A and B was observed between 75% and 80%, respectively. The isolation of A.baumannii in the ICU and hospitalization was high which may indicate a cross-transmission within the facilities, these results emphasize the need for measures to prevent nosocomial transmission of A.baumannii in health centers.
