The extraction system of crude oil by means of mechanical pumping units is one of the most used methods worldwide, 85% of the wells. Its objective is to extract the production from the oil wells by means of an ascending-descending movement, transferred by a string of rods to a pump located inside the production line at the bottom of the well. The mechanical pumping system is widely used in wells with API high gravity crudes or with high water cut, as well. As a generalized result of these crude oil extraction systems, this project proposes a methodology for energy analysis in terms of efficiency, which associates variables related to each subsystem. The method is based on an energy that allows an evaluation to be made with a view to taking improvement actions, and the reduction in energy consumption. of depth and an API around 21 °. The development of the method became the following stages: energetically characterize a crude oil survey system based on the measurement of its operative variables (case study); evaluate the performance as a result of the analysis of the results of the real and theoretical behavior of each of the crude oil extraction subsystems; Finally, provide basic information to optimize the energies in the crude lifting system with mechanical pumping units. The results highlight an estimate of energy savings that will reach 20% per well, on average equivalent to 500 USD / year per well.
