    Conocimientos y aplicación del protocolo de lavado de manos por parte del personal de salud del servicio de hospitalización de una institución prestadora de servicios de salud de III nivel en Bucaramanga, durante los meses de septiembre y noviembre de 2017.

    The correct practice of hand hygiene is a vital mechanism to avoid HAIs. The patient safety policy includes the hand washing protocol as a technique to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with these infections. The objective was to evaluate the knowledge and application of the hand-washing protocol by the health personnel on a third level hospitalization service in Bucaramanga, during September and November 2017. This study is qualitative descriptive observational developed in two phases with convenience sample, with prior informed consent, the compliance of the hand washing protocol of the health personnel (doctors, professional nurses and nursing assistants) was evaluated in a hospitalization service of a third level institution. The instrument used was the institution's hand washing protocol check list. The results showed non-compliance to hand washing protocol; this application is independent to health personnel profession according to the chi square test. It was evident that compliance factor is linked to the awareness of health personnel rather than physical factors for its realization. Study participants received training on the clinical hand washing protocol, allowing them to be updated. The development of security rounds allowed health personnel to discover faults when applying the protocol. It is recommended to adapt the checklist of the institution to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) to audit the handwashing protocol process and design a program to improve adherence.

    Objective: Develop a didactic tool in neurosurgery that enables the students of seventh and eighth semester of Surgical Instrumentation of the University of Santander-UDES Strengthen knowledge in this specialty. Materials and methods: Descriptive study with a quantitative approach with data analysis from descriptive statistics. Were taken the seventh and eighth semester students of the Surgical Instrumentation program of the Universidad de Santander-UDES as population, who completed the survey with the measurement characteristics of the project. The students surveyed were the indicated group to apply the measurement instrument since they are the ones who see the theory and the practice of neurosurgery. Results: In accordance with the results of the survey applied to 28 students, the 86% are female and 14% are men, the qualification average in the neurosurgery chair evaluated from 0 to 5 was 3.9 and the average of the knowledge in this specialty qualified in the survey was 2.5, in the variable of the methods that students prefer to assimilate knowledge, the 75% prefer virtual and applications tools, 22% software or magnetic books and videos, , therefore it was justified to create the application APP in neurosurgery as a didactic strategy for students of Surgical Instruments to strengthen their knowledge in medical devices (instruments) and table arrangement in this specialty of high complexity. Conclusion: The integration of tics to education, manages to design a significant learning, layers of general in the student and teacher the achievement of forming emblematic knowledge.
