En esta investigación se propuso la incorporación de una estrategia pedagógica a través de una aplicación móvil, con el fin de fortalecer la comprensión lectora en inglés de estudiantes de grado undécimo de una institución educativa en Manizales, dada la necesidad imperante de incorporar las TIC en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje del inglés. Para tal fin, se utilizó un diseño de investigación de método mixto, que implica la recolección y análisis de datos cuantitativos y cualitativos, obtenidos a través de instrumentos como el Pre Test, el Post Test, la encuesta y la observación, con un alcance de tipo correlacional. En cuanto a los resultados, estos mostraron que hubo una mejoría en el Post Test, con relación al Pre Test. De igual manera, la encuesta determinó que los estudiantes hallaron agradables y útiles la aplicación y las actividades propuestas en esta. Por otro lado, la observación reveló que los estudiantes tuvieron una adecuada interacción con la estrategia pedagógica. Ahora bien, una de las conclusiones más relevantes es el hecho de que la estrategia pedagógica, mediante la implementación de la aplicación móvil logró despertar el interés de los estudiantes por el aprendizaje del idioma inglés y, en especial, por mejorar su comprensión lectora. En lo que concierne al aporte en lo social, dado que los estudiantes tienen poco interés en las prácticas educativas convencionales, estas estrategias pueden considerarse una solución a este problema.

In this research, the incorporation of a pedagogical strategy was proposed through the development and implementation of a mobile application, in order to strengthen the reading comprehension in English of eleventh grade students of an educational institution in Manizales, given that the prevailing need to incorporate ICT in the teaching and learning processes of English. For this purpose, a mixed method research design was used, which involves the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, obtained through instruments such as the Pre Test, the Post Test, the survey and observation. Regarding the results, they showed that there was an improvement in the Post Test, in relation to the Pre Test. In the same way, the survey determined that the students found the application and the activities proposed in it pleasant and useful. On the other hand, the observation revealed that the students had an adequate interaction with the pedagogical strategy. However, one of the most relevant conclusions is the fact that the pedagogical strategy, through the implementation of the mobile application, it managed to arouse the interest of the students in learning the English language and, especially, in improving their reading comprehension. Regarding the contribution in the social, since students have little interest in conventional educational practices, these strategies can be considered a solution to this problem.
