El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como propósito principal fortalecer el aprendizaje de la lengua inglesa mediante el uso de la aplicación móvil denominada Eimy (English in my pocket). Esta aplicación, destinada al sistema operativo Android y elaborada por el docente investigador en el entorno de desarrollo de software App Inventor, permite la práctica autónoma, lúdica y constante del inglés de los estudiantes del grado noveno de la Institución Educativa José Antonio Galán de Popayán. La aplicación Eimy llega a ser una excelente alternativa de solución para superar los bajos niveles de inglés que presentan actualmente los estudiantes. Desde un sentido social, la aplicación provee un servicio gratuito de aprendizaje del inglés para todos los estudiantes que, en su gran mayoría, les es casi imposible costearse un curso pre universitario en preparación para las pruebas estatales. Además, la aplicación se convierte en una herramienta que impulsa y promueve la innovación tecnológica en la institución. Con el fin de fortalecer el aprendizaje del inglés y lograr el nivel A1 mediante la aplicación móvil, el tipo de investigación y diseño metodológico seleccionado para la realización del presente estudio, corresponde a la ruta de la Investigación Mixta. La investigación mixta precisamente se adapta a las necesidades, el contexto, las circunstancias, los recursos y al planteamiento del problema en la institución educativa.

The current research aims to strengthen the english language learning through the use of the mobile application called Eimy (English in my pocket). This application, intended for the Android operating system and developed by the teacher – researcher on the App Inventor software development environment, allows ninth graders from José Antonio Galán Educational Institution of Popayán, to practice english in a constant, autonomous and playful way. The application Eimy becomes an appealing and efficient solution alternative to overcome the low english levels that students currently own. From a social point of view, the application provides a free english learning service for all students who, for the most part, find it almost impossible to afford a pre-university course in preparation for state tests. In addition, the application turns out to be a tool that promotes and move the technological innovation forward in the institution. In order to strengthen the english learning and achieve the level A1 through the mobile application, the type of research and methodological design selected to carry out this study corresponds to the mixed research route. The mixed investigation precisely adapts to the educational institution's needs, its context, circumstances, resources and problem approach.
