El aprendizaje del vocabulario del tema Members of the family en el idioma inglés, es una base inicial para los estudiantes en la relaciones sociales en práctica del bilingüismo con este grupo de personas que comprenden el entorno familiar. Sin embargo, los estudiantes no se han apropiado de ese otro grupo de léxico que conforman los miembros de la familia, que va mucho más allá de las palabras father, mother. Por eso, el objetivo principal consistió en desarrollar una estrategia didáctica de aprendizaje activo mediante el uso de aplicaciones móviles para el enriquecimiento del vocabulario básico en el tema “miembros de la familia” en el idioma inglés, en los estudiantes del grado octavo de básica secundaria. Así, se llevó a cabo una investigación tipo cuantitativa de alcance correlacional, y con la aplicación de instrumentos como el pretest y el postest, a una muestra de 26 estudiantes del grado octavo de secundaria de la Institución Educativa Institución Educativa San Francisco de Asís, en el Putumayo, Colombia. Los resultados mostraron que al comienzo los estudiantes presentaban un nivel Insuficiente, con un desempeño del 18% en el conocimiento del vocabulario Members of the family. Luego de la intervención pedagógica con la App Members of the family-Basic vocabulary, los estudiantes alcanzan el nivel Básico, con un desempeño del 54%. Se concluye que la estrategia didáctica de aprendizaje activo dada en unidades de aprendizaje mediante la App, se fortaleció la apropiación del vocabulario básico “Members of the family” en un 36% en el grupo de estudiantes. Learning the vocabulary of the Members of the family theme in the English language is an initial basis for students in social relations in the practice of bilingualism with this group of people who understand the family environment. However, the students have not appropriated that other lexical group that makes up the members of the family, which goes far beyond the words father, mother. Therefore, the main objective was to develop a didactic strategy of active learning through the use of mobile applications for the enrichment of basic vocabulary on the topic "family members" in the English language, in eighth grade students of secondary school. Thus, a quantitative investigation of correlational scope was carried out, and with the application of instruments such as the pretest and the posttest, to a sample of 26 students of the eighth grade of secondary school of the Educational Institution Institución Educativa San Francisco de Asís, in Putumayo, Colombia. The results showed that at the beginning the students presented an insufficient level, with a performance of 18% in the knowledge of the Members of the family vocabulary. After the pedagogical intervention with the App Members of the family-Basic vocabulary, the students reach the Basic level, with a performance of 54%. It is concluded that the didactic strategy of active learning given in learning units through the App, strengthened the appropriation of the basic vocabulary "Members of the family" by 36% in the group of students.
