A través del tiempo la Ingeniería Industrial ha tenido diversos cambios dado que no es ajena a estos en cuanto a procedimientos, transformaciones e innovaciones y van de la mano con la Ciencia y la Tecnología. Actualmente la Ingeniería Industrial es de las más amplias debido a que esta permite diseñar y planificar, lo cual genera en las empresas una maximización de beneficios y optimización de recursos. En ese sentido, el presente proyecto de grado tiene la finalidad de dar a conocer las principales tendencias de la Ingeniería Industrial en los campos internacional, nacional y local. En un primer análisis, se muestra el aspecto teórico de lo que es la Ingeniería Industrial, se menciona el motivo por el cual se crea el proyecto de grado y se establecen los objetivos que se quieren lograr con este proyecto. Posteriormente, se procede a dar cumplimiento a los objetivos donde se detallan algunas de las tendencias de la Ingeniería Industrial a nivel internacional con el análisis de los resultados obtenidos en la base de datos (Scopus) con los artículos, capítulos de libros y otros documentos allí plasmados. De igual manera se realiza un estudio a nivel y local, incluyendo entes que brindan información confiable como lo es el SNIES, DANE, las Instituciones de Educación Superior, entre otros.

Over time, Industrial Engineering has undergone various changes, as it is not immune to developments in procedures, transformations, and innovations, and it goes hand in hand with Science and Technology. Currently, Industrial Engineering is one of the broadest fields because it enables design and planning, leading to the maximization of benefits and resource optimization within companies. In this context, the present graduation project aims to introduce the main trends in Industrial Engineering at the international, national, and local levels. In an initial analysis, the theoretical aspect of what Industrial Engineering entails is presented, the reason for creating the graduation project is mentioned, and the objectives to be achieved with this project are established. Subsequently, the project proceeds to fulfill these objectives by detailing some of the international trends in Industrial Engineering through the analysis of results obtained from the Scopus database, which includes articles, book chapters, and other documents. Likewise, a study is conducted at the national and local levels, including entities that provide reliable information such as the National Information System of Higher Education (SNIES), the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), Higher Education Institutions, among others.
