Con la implementación de nuevas tecnologías y siguiendo los contenidos programáticos del Ministerio de Educación Nacional el videoarte surge como respuesta lúdica a las necesidades presentes en el aula para el manejo de las emociones y el desarrollo de psicosocial de los estudiantes, esta nueva forma de adquirir conocimiento sirve como eje transversal en las demás áreas del conocimiento. Con la llegada de la tecnología muchas cosas han cambiado y la educación no ha sido ajena a esta transformación; hoy día existen muchas aplicaciones gratuitas y de fácil implementación que se pueden usar desde la comodidad de la casa, en un restaurante o café por medio del celular, Tablet o computador. Dichas aplicaciones tienen la ventaja de poder generar contenido para redes sociales, enviar y recibir videos y mensajes, crear contenidos en línea para expresar sentimientos y emociones, cosas que antes eran impensables que pudieran suceder. Las nuevas generaciones han sabido sacarles provecho a dichas herramientas, hoy día se crea contenido para todo tipo de público, desde el manejo de herramientas ofimáticas, contenido especializado en todas las áreas para estudiantes, clases de pintura, cocina, música, etc. Los temas al igual que los contenidos son muy variados y el acceso a la información cada vez es más ilimitado, estas son algunas de las ventajas que trae consigo la tecnología. Pero como todo, tiene sus limitaciones, el acceso a las redes sociales y a los contenidos en internet deben ser supervisados y guiados por un adulto ya que el uso irresponsable de estos recursos puede traer serios inconvenientes para sus usuarios. La tecnología si se emplea adecuadamente puede traer consigo grandes beneficios, una muestra de ello es el contenido que se puede encontrar en redes sociales, plataformas y blogs especializados en temas de educación, fuentes de consulta a disposición de los estudiantes.
