Introducción: La pertinencia social en la enfermería profesional es el compromiso que se tiene con la comunidad, teniendo en cuenta los diferentes roles que están capacitado en los diferentes ámbitos laborales que aportan positivamente a la persona, familia, comunidad, entorno de los habitantes del departamento de Santander. Objetivo: Analizar la pertinencia social del profesional de enfermería de acuerdo a los indicadores de salud, los determinantes sociales y los perfiles ocupacionales de la profesión de enfermería según referentes nacionales e internacionales en los años 2017 al 2021. Metodología: estudio de tipo revisión documental para buscar y evaluar la pertinencia que tiene el profesional de enfermería, teniendo en cuenta los distintos roles que están capacitados laboralmente, y así poder saber cuál es esa importancia que ellos tienen a la hora de promocionar y prevenir las enfermedades. Se tendrán en cuenta los documentos electrónicos, artículos científicos, académicos, reseñas que apoyen la pertinencia social de la profesión de enfermería en el departamento de Santander. Resultados: Se realizó un Modelo de Perfiles en la Pertinencia Social de Enfermería en Santander donde se identificó los roles con mayor necesidad en el departamento son el área asistencial, salud pública y atención primaria en salud, docencia e investigativa, que permite dar una atención oportuna. Conclusión: Según los resultados que se obtuvieron se concluye que, si es pertinente la formación del profesional de enfermería puesto que en los análisis realizados a nivel mundial y nacional es indispensable para la atención oportuna, debido a las diferentes estadísticas de necesidades o indicadores que se presenta en la población por los factores que se pueden llegar a presentar en estas. Introduction: The social relevance of the nursing profession is the commitment that it has with the community, taking into account the different roles that are trained in the different work areas that contribute positively to the person, family, community, environment of the inhabitants of the department of Santander. Objective: To analyze the social relevance of the nursing professional according to health indicators, social determinants and occupational profiles of the nursing profession according to national and international references in the years 2017 to 2021. Methodology: documentary review type study to search and evaluate the relevance of the nursing professional, taking into account the different roles that are trained occupationally, and thus be able to know what is the importance that they have when promoting and preventing diseases. Electronic documents, scientific and academic articles, and reviews that support the social relevance of the nursing profession in the department of Santander will be taken into account. Results: A Model of Profiles in the Social Relevance of Nursing in Santander was carried out, where the roles with the greatest need in the department were identified as the care area, public health and primary health care, teaching and research, which allows for timely attention. Conclusion: According to the results obtained, it is concluded that the training of the nursing professional is pertinent, since in the analyses carried out at a global and national level it is indispensable for timely attention, due to the different statistics of needs or indicators that are presented in the population due to the factors that can be presented in these.
